Otranto: four-hour boat tour to Grotta Zinzulusa

From the port of Otranto we will flank the Torre del Serpente, an old oil lighthouse, and then turn into the large Bay of 'Orte, which ends at Capo d' Otranto or Punta Palascìa, with its stupendous lighthouse, the most easterly point in Italy where the first sunrise in Italy takes place

Continuing on we arrive at the bay of Sant'Emiliano, a name derived from the tower built in the early 1500s ul highest point of the bay, used to defend the Salento coast from the attack of pirates and predominantly Turkish invaders.

Further on we come to Porto Badisco, a small fishing port, a picturesque inlet famous for the color of its water and for the landing place of Aeneas described in Virgil's Aeneid: the hero is said to have stopped there on his journey to Italy after escaping from Troy; the characteristics of the seabed are noted even at a depth of 10mt or more.

Below the Minervino Tower, we will visit the Grotte delle Rose. It is one among thousands of caves in Salento of karst nature, so named by a team of cave divers after the discovery of a unique natural sponge with the red color of a rose.

Next we find the Fraula cave, strawberry in Arabic, whose characteristic feature is that it has freshwater springs. We thus reach Santa Cesara Terme: a seaside bomboniera! Famous for Villa Sticchi, built between 1894 and 1900, with its purple-red dome and oriental flavor. We arrive at the famous Bay of Miggiano, the beach of the 100 steps, one of the most beautiful natural pools in Salento, where we will make our first swimming stop.
Continuing our navigation we will arrive below the town of Castro to visit Grotta Zinzulusa, Grotta Azzurra and Grotta Palombara.
