Description
Located 10 km from Spinazzola, bauxite quarries, now disused, have been one of the most important deposits in Italy for the processing of 'aluminum. A place to visit very impressive and fascinating for its shades ranging from red rust to pink and orange.
Located in the Alta Murgia National Park, near Poggiorsini, stands the Rocca del Garagnone also called "invisible castle" or "castle in the rock" as it was built with Murgian stones to make it concealable by enemies or possible invaders. It was built by Frederick II along the Appian Way, close to the Fossa Bradanica as a system of territorial control, one of the most productive in the marketing of cereals from the Land of Bari.
Partially destroyed in the earthquake of 1731, today only the foundations and some city walls remain. The view from the slope is suggestive. An ideal place to regenerate and rediscover yourself.
It is possible to go horseback riding without a license, with an instructor who will follow the route.
